when every goalie that has come through on our watch regresses then yes we can blame him. this isn't the whole solution, but its a piece of the overall turnover that needs to occur (players and staff alike). Come on garner, you are as short sighted as some of those troll canucks posters.

Well put.

I feel for Edmonton fans.
Yes, The Hawks have had recent success. But it wasn't that long ago that ownership had no care in the world about trying to field a winning team. And it showed by the product on the ice.
The old boys club lives on in Edmonton.

you do realize that they said it was temporary and that they would be looking to fill the position in the off season?

Why haven't the oilers cleaned house and put Bob Nicholson in charge.

I sure hope we acquire Sidney Crosby so that this much needed firing can be retroactively legitimized.

I wouldn't care for the optics of anything less than that.

And our old goaltenders do better under different coaches. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Your old #1 goaltenders all end up being backups somewhere else... Not sure it qualifies as doing better....

Are we talking about the short sighted trolling canuck posters who said 5 years ago that the Oilers were an old boys club that were ruining the once mighty franchise? Nothing will change for this franchise until Lowe and MacT are history. A new GM/President will bring in his own coach so that will solve the Eakins issue as well.

Could be that your overall point is correct, but MacT wasn't a part of the organization in any capacity 5 years ago.

Eberre and Schultz for Schenn bros and Coburn(edm perhaps adds a 2nd or 3rd)
Yaks forYandle
Lack and Hansen for Marnicin(sp)

True. But he got the position by his history with Kevin Lowe. It's debateable if he's qualified or not. Just saying the problems are from the top down and nothing will really change till that changes.

I think that people have an idea about Kevin Lowe as a more hands on guy than he is.

However, I'm coming around to the idea that severing ties with him would be a useful idea.

I don't care about what firing Chabot 'looks' like, but Lowe is likely a different story. Since he is essentially a figurehead, he's mostly in charge of managing the 'brand' of the oilers in the hockey world. So the need to be image-concious there is pretty apparent.

acquiring Luke Schenn, his as bad as most oilers defensive ability, and his anchor contract, would be a bitter pill to swallow. I like the other two players though well enough, and lord knows many oil fans are getting pretty fed up with both Eberle and Schultz. You only get one chance to trade an Eberle or Yak so you want to do it right.

That deal would depend largely on whether we had made serious strides to retain Petry before he hit FA.

I don't think Arizona would do Yaks for Yandle. I think it might have been done already if that was the case.

Hansen is pretty good and has a good contract, but only if we make those first two trades does RW become an area of need for us. We might rather a less good, cheaper option as by that point we'd be talking about adding 4 million in cap through those moves.

Interesting enough ones, though.

He already works for the Oilers. Put him in charge of Hockey Ops.

He can then hire Darcy Regier.

Regeir Can then hire Dan Bylsma.

Regier can then trade Yakapov and Eberle for Richards, Muzzin and a 2nd.

I love when fans of other teams try to beak the oilers management with stupid solutions " They are so stupid guyz! Why dont they just trade eberle for weber and yak and first over all for malkin, problemz solved yo!" Anybody who thinks MacT isnt making calls or trying to get a trade done is stupid. The fact nothing has been done doesnt mean hes not trying. Id rather him not deal then trade eberle, yak and our first for Yandle which is probably the only type of calls hes getting from other teams.

I don't doubt he's making calls, and frankly fielding calls for bad deals where we're supposed to overpay because we're desperate.

I just hope he's not passing on deals where we marginally lose on value long term but it would provide a solid platform to move forward and get some confidence going.

Seems to me that if the team gets better, we may not win the trade, but we certainly don't lose it.
